OUR HISTORY

JFP is an architectural and engineering consulting firm that was established in Jakarta in 1969. JFP started as the Jakarta office of James Ferrie and Partners, a firm that was founded in Singapore in 1952.  In 1977, JFP was transformed and become an independent architectural and engineering firm in Jakarta. Although the firm became a local entity, it is still associated through technical cooperation with James Ferrie International and its offices in Southeast Asia, such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Colombo.

JFP offers professional consultancy in the fields of planning, architectural and interior design, engineering, project management, and construction management. JFP has capability in project management and contract supervision; overseeing project from conception to planning approval, and through the construction stages up to final certification. In its 40 years of business, the firm has had many challenging and complex phases. From the company's establishment up the 1970s and early 1980s, the firm was well known for designing and constructing industrial buildings; between the 1980s and mid-1990s, while maintaining its place in the industrial building market, the firm completed a wide range of projects that included hotels, commercial office blocks and educational institutions.

Over the past decade, the firm has became well known as one of the best architectural and engineering firm fie designing hospitals and other healthcare facilities in Indonesia. Thos reputation has be developed since 1996 when JFP designed Rumah Sakit Surabaya International. Rumah Sakit International Bintaro and Rumah Sakit International Kelapa Gading; three modern international standard hospital owned by an Australian group, Health Care of Australia (HCOA). Two hospitals were completed successfully and became the new national paradigm for the modern international standard hospital but the construction of the Kelapa Gading hospital was halted because of the 1998 economic crisis.

All senior JFP staff have had extensive professional training and experience. The firm has continuing in-house training programs to develop the capabilities of the staff and as well there are external courses and seminars. Some of the most valuable staff experience results from the projects the firm handles on behalf of well-known international consultants and companies that require a local partner in Indonesia.  JFP has kept abreast of the continuing improvements in technology because it is necessary for the firm to ensure that it has most modern equipment and the expertise to exploit it fully so that projects meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Our firm is ready and equipped to serve our clients and to be one of the best building consultants in Indonesia.

OUR DREAM

The hospital sector in Indonesia is dominated by public hospitals. Up to 1970, there were few good private hospitals and they were to be found in big cities like Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya.  As the need for the better healthcare in the country increased, the healthcare industries felt the demand and tried to capture the 'up-market' segment. This sector comprises those who can afford to go abroad for healthcare and specialized treatments. Consequently, better quality healthcare facilities (hospital and clinics) are needed in Indonesia to meet the demands of theses ever-growing market sectors. This translates to more work for consultants and contractors in building industry.

In Indonesia, there are few local architects specializing in hospital design; this is not just from lack of experience but also because hospital projects tend to be complex, which in turn it leads to longer working hours and, in comparison with other building projects, hospital projects are not as profitable.  There are many considerations that have to be properly coordinates when designing any building. In designing hospitals and other healthcare facilities there are additional matters such as functional planning, workflow and circulation, infection control management, medical equipment requirements, specific utility systems and environmental issues, to name a few. In additional, not only do the buildings have to have functioned efficiently, but they should also be designed to please the eye.

Constructing a new hospital or clinic is one thing; renovating or making additions to a working hospital or clinic is quite another.  Ensuring that the work is done to schedule and without disrupting the hospital's normal operations requires sophisticated skills, knowledge and care. Jasa Ferrie Pratama, with more than ten years specialized experience, is able to meet such challenges. With these advantages, JFP has now formed division specializing in healthcare that can provide comprehensive services, from an initial feasibility study to physical construction.

In the future, this specialized division will become country's 'one stop shop' for world-class standards of hospital and the healthcare facility construction.
